On Friday the 2nd of December we will play our last and final concert as Oh No Ono.
Recently our studio, Moono, got robbed and we lost gear for about 90.000$. The insurance only covered one fifth of the total loss (details here).
To get the studio back on track our friends at Beatbox Booking and Black Wood Music have helped us arrange a night of terrific music to the benefit of Moono.
The line-up are:
- Choir of Young Believers
- The Rumour Said Fire
- Figurines
- Kirsten & Marie
- Thulebasen
- The New Spring
- Oh No Ono (guest: Jonas Bjerre)
2010 is coming to an end and we’d like to wish you a happy 2011 and tell you what we’ve been up to lately and what we’re messing with at the moment.
First of all, this has been quite an incredible year. We’ve been touring a lot, 2 tours in the states and 3 tours around Europe – it’s been an unforgettable experience and we’re so grateful for everyone’s support.
We’re Grammy nominees
This is so unbelievable, but Oh No Ono is actually nominated for a US Grammy for best recording package. It’s truly an honor! We spent soooooo much time time and money on the artwork for Eggs so it really means a lot to be recognized for the effort. A huge thank you to all we work with, especially Friendly Fire Recordings for making this possible and to the awesome Malene Mathiasson (and ourselves(!) for designing the artwork. You can have a look at an interactive version of the recording package here
New video for The Tea Party by Tobias Stretch
The fabulous artist Tobias Stretch has done this video for our song The Tea Party, hope you like it!
Our life these days
Moono:
We’ve finally gotten ourselves a f***ing awesome recording studio. It’s called Moono and it resides in the outskirts of Copenhagen. We work on new stuff there and friends record their stuff at Moono as well. Moono.org will soon be updated with photos, gear list and other nerdy stuff.
Tambourhinoceros:
It’s been hard not to notice, but we’ll tell you anyways that Kristoffer & Aske has become the proud owners of the record label Tambourhinoceros. Pay them a visit here

Carolina Melis and Alessandro Monaco have made a video for our song ‘Internet Warrior’. Watch it below, it’s totally cool. Here’s what the two directors have got to say about it:
“The idea was to create a magical world: a mixture of organic forms and geometrical shapes. At time this video is like a journey into a vintage underwater dimension, then it suddenly turns into a graphical playground. There are no cuts, the idea was to create an ongoing continuous flow which starts with a macro view of a lobster and ends with a planetary view of the world. We started working on this video from a vintage book of diorama. We didn’t story-boarded and planned, we just started with one image and we let this work grew day after day following the natural development of the animation. It’s a very exciting and beautiful track and it has been a great pleasure to work on it.”
This is also a convenient opportunity to direct your attention to the recently released ‘Internet Warrior’ EP that features the single + remixes by amazing artists such as Caribou, Zambri, The Depreciation Guild, Shlohmo & The Phenomenal Handclap Band. It’s available on 12″ vinyl accompanied by a digital download here!
You should go buy this extremely fine compilation. It’s curated by Elijah Wood and the money goes to kids with serious medical conditions. Please support here (US citizens) or here (UK citizens).
We put out a remix EP a couple of weeks ago. And now the vinyl has finally arrived at the office.
The remixes are plucked from a quiver of talented artists, coincidentally all North American on this occasion. Currently touting his eagerly anticipated fifth album, Leaf-alumnus Caribou weighs in with his “liquid, techno-stroked” (Stereogum) remix of ‘Eleanor Speaks’, already a blogsville hit and destined to be a dancefloor essential this summer, with DJs as diverse as Trentemøller and Four Tet getting behind it.
Shlohmo (not the UK beatboxer Shlomo, but the West Coast indie hip-hopper and Wedidit Collective member) offers a sparkly slice of backpack thug life, with a blippy, bouncey take on ‘Swim’. Coming up close behind is hotly tipped Brooklyn-based sister-fronted outfit, Zambri, with a woozy, echoey, bruised darkwave distortion that takes ‘Eleanor Speaks’ deep into dystopia. You need to play this one loud. New York’s Phenomenal Handclap Band give ‘Swim’ an understated cosmic disco revamp, while The Depreciation Guild (who dabble in a little side project called The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart) take ‘Internet Warrior’ into a mirrored hall of shoegazey, mindbending effects.
We’re eager to ship these ones to you. You’ll of course get the digital version with The Depriciation Guild bonus track when buying it from our shop
We have the pleasure of playing a one-of-a-kind show with our good friends from the amazing band Bear In Heaven. It goes down on August 10, 2010 at Lille Vega, Copenhagen – Denmark. The amazing band Treefight For Sunlight will open the night.
It’s time to go on the road again. We’ve got some surprises for you so hope you’ll come join us at the venues! It’s going to be an exiting tour, we’re playing a support show for Wolf Parade and the mighty Thulebasen will join us in London.
